Routine nail maintenance

Dog Nail Trimming in North Phoenix

Nail trimming is included for the dog receiving a bath, brush, or groom. Standalone appointments are also available when nails need attention between grooming visits.

How short can nails go?

The quick grows inside the nail and determines the safe stopping point. Nails that have grown long may need several shorter-interval visits rather than one aggressive trim.

Clip, grind, or buff

I choose the method that best fits the nail and what the dog tolerates. Grinding offers gradual control and leaves a smoother edge; some dogs prefer clipping.

Dewclaws count too

Dewclaws do not touch the ground, so they receive no natural wear. I check them as part of routine nail maintenance.

When nails have grown long

The quick can extend with the nail. Taking the nail back safely over several visits gives the quick time to recede and avoids trying to create a dramatic change in one appointment.

For dogs who dislike paw handling

The appointment stays calm and one-on-one, but routine nail service still requires safe paw handling. I will not force the process when a dog cannot tolerate it safely.

When a veterinarian is the better fit

An injured nail, medical handling need, sedation requirement, or need for veterinary restraint belongs in a veterinary setting. Green Dog provides routine grooming maintenance, not medical nail care.

Book nail maintenance

Choose a standalone nail appointment for one or several dogs, or book full grooming when your dog also needs a bath, brush, or haircut.
