What the appointment includes

Short coats still collect oil, dust, and loose hair. The right wash and drying process removes what surface brushing leaves behind.

Coat-matched bathProfessional iGroom shampoo selected for oil, buildup, sensitivity, or the condition of the individual coat.

Thorough rinseProduct is completely rinsed so the coat dries clean instead of holding residue and new dust.

Drying and curryingHigh-velocity airflow plus a rubber curry or appropriate brush removes loose surface hair.

Nails and earsNail trimming and ear cleaning are included. Teeth brushing with breath spray may be added for $10.

Why a short coat still benefits from grooming

A short coat may be simple, but it is not maintenance-free. The loose hairs are stiff enough to work into upholstery, while natural oil holds Phoenix dust close to the skin.

Less hair around the house

Single coats shed steadily rather than releasing a large seasonal undercoat. Removing the loose hair during the appointment means less of it reaches furniture and clothing.

Oil and desert dust

Clarifying products may be used when a coat feels greasy or dull. Some short-coated breeds need a second shampoo to remove surface oil before the skin and coat are truly clean.

Folds dried carefully

Facial folds, tail pockets, and other skin folds are cleaned and dried individually. Redness, odor, or soreness that remains is a veterinary concern, not something grooming should try to treat.

Between appointments

A rubber curry used two or three times a week is one of the most useful home tools for a short coat. It lifts loose hair without scraping or cutting the coat.

Dogs that swim, dig, spend more time outdoors, or naturally carry more skin oil usually need the shorter end of the four-to-eight-week range.

What I watch for

A wet short coat makes the skin easier to see. I will tell you if I notice dryness, flaking, redness, thinning, or another visible change.
